The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #8

[ Posted on 9 March 2010 in Newsletters by Simon Streep ]

Yes – it’s newsletter time – your little catch-up with what’s going on in the world of The Brothers Streep.  This is like when you’ve bumped into a friend in the shops, and you haven’t chatted for a while, so they start filling you in on things that you’re not particularly interested to hear about, but you don’t want to jeopardise your friendship, so you start to find yourself saying things like, “No no no, I’m not in a hurry, please do tell me more about how last week you discovered a tiny bicycle in your Chicken Cordon Bleu.”

If Disney Had Made King Kong

[ Posted on 4 March 2010 in Video by Simon Streep ]

A few years ago Dylan and I made the mistake of renting King Kong – a movie which is surprisingly dull for a film which won Oscars and incorporates dinosaurs and a giant ape.

Cocktails

“Come, let me buy you a drink...”

I have never used this line to try win the heart of any woman, but for some reason it apparently can work, despite the fact you’re effectively saying, “Come, let me try lower your inhibitions so that I stand a chance of this leading somewhere...”

The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #7

Despite massive advances in technology over the past few years, I find it strange that we don’t seem to have improved the toaster.  Most appliances are fairly effective in carrying out the tasks they were designed for, but the toaster is a bit hit and miss.  It’s troubling to me that you have to keep an eye on your toast because sometimes it’s just going to burn for no particularly good reason.  I also find it strange that the toaster has settings that no man in their right mind would ever want.  If my toast sometimes burns when it is on 4, why on earth would I ever choose 6?  Maybe I just have a bad toaster.

Trapped in the bathroom

[ Posted on 22 February 2010 in Life by Simon Streep ]

On Friday night I became trapped in a bathroom.  It wasn’t a literal trapping - there wasn’t some sort of bathroom lockdown that occurred which prevented me to leave, and no-one had set a bear trap in the cubical or anything, it was more of a social trapping.

The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #6

[ Posted on 17 February 2010 in Newsletters by Simon Streep ]

Dylan and I had a meeting in town today, so whilst we were in the area we decided to have a quick game of Putt Putt.  My levels of co-ordination were at an all time high in the first half of the game, beating Dyl by one in the front nine.

My unprecedented success unbalanced the universe for a bit, and for a while, the very essence of life as we know it began to fall apart.  Jamie Oliver began speaking without a lisp, Jacob Zuma vowed to live a life of monogamy, and Oprah Winfrey decided someone else could be on the front cover of O Magazine.  Fortunately, in the back nine, I dropped enough shots to be beaten by seven, and the universe was restored to its usual form.
