The Other Musical Adventures of The Brothers Streep #1
[ Posted on 3 February 2010 in Video by Simon Streep ]
Everyone has skeletons in their closet. Metaphorically of course. People that do actually have skeletons, tend to keep them in the basement. I’m basing this observation purely on Norman Bates from Psycho, and not on any real life experience. I don’t have a basement.
Anyways, all the members of the Brothers Streep have been involved in various other musical projects which might be viewed by others as ‘skeletons’ in our past. This however would be an unfair judgement, as we all know the world was a better place when Would You Like Some Curry? was around, and when El Pistolos Streepos Amigos were gigging regularly.
There have been more serious bands that we’ve been involved in – Dyl, Tim P and I currently play in The Louise Day Band, Dyl also plays in The Lancaster Band, and Rich and I used to play in a punk band called Sedwick. In fact, probably a lesser known fact is that Dyl and I both used to be in Captain Stu, but not during the same period of time.
For the sake of this blog, I want to share two videos from the past... Introducing the original ‘friends of the meadowridge common’ crew, and the country sensation The Swingin’ Doors.
the original ‘friends of the meadowridge common’ crew
This hip hop crew is so hardcore, they refuse to use capital letters in their name. When Tim P and Tim S were in High School, they got together with two of their friends (who for legal reasons cannot be identified) and created a crew which has been heralded as “the catalyst for what hip hop encompasses today”. And those aren’t my words. That comes straight from 50 Cent.
The Swingin’ Doors
Tim Dosado is a Country and Western legend. He has had huge hits all over the world with songs such as ‘More than herds’, and his pro-vegetarian anthem ‘Eat wheat, not meat’. No song however has been more acclaimed in recent country music history, than his collaboration with The Brothers Streep. Even though it has been four years since this collaboration, ‘Country Country Country’ is still the most played song in Nashville.

3 February 2010 at 3:15 pmAlways love these videos...But what about Kings of the Sky? They're only one of the greatest rock bands to ever come out of Cape Town and I do believe there are some Streep members in it...

6 February 2010 at 4:27 amI won't condemn country but it's low on my list of music listening (but the video was funny/cute). There's this reality TV show in the U.S. called Millionaire Matchmaker. A nice, shy millionaire is set up on a date with as it turns during their date, the woman of his dreams. They're having lunch and getting to know each other, sparks are flying, and then, he asks her: "So, what kind of music do you like listening to?" ... "I like listening to country". SCREECH His expression was priceless, in fact, he was speechless for awhile. But you know what? It wasn't a deal breaker. I thought it was sweet he was willing to over look it.
