The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #6
[ Posted 17 February 2010 in Newsletters by Simon Streep ]
Dylan and I had a meeting in town today, so whilst we were in the area we decided to have a quick game of Putt Putt. My levels of co-ordination were at an all time high in the first half of the game, beating Dyl by one in the front nine.
My unprecedented success unbalanced the universe for a bit, and for a while, the very essence of life as we know it began to fall apart. Jamie Oliver began speaking without a lisp, Jacob Zuma vowed to live a life of monogamy, and Oprah Winfrey decided someone else could be on the front cover of O Magazine. Fortunately, in the back nine, I dropped enough shots to be beaten by seven, and the universe was restored to its usual form.
In other news, we’re still looking for a venue to record our upcoming album – we need a house in a secluded area which has a relatively big room with a high roof and wooden floors. If you know anyone with a holiday house that could match this description (or even something fringe like a wine cellar or barn), then please contact us!
Another way you can help us prepare for this album is simply by coming to shows. And speaking of shows, we have a lot lined up, so, here we go...
19th Feb (this Friday) Dylan and I will be playing with Forgottensuperhero at Octopus Gardens in Kalk Bay. The Facebook event is here.
23rd Feb (Tuesday) the duo is off to Ruby Tuesday in Kenilworth again. We’re still trying to win a residency here, so if you come through, bring friends – it’ll make us look good! The Facebook event is here.
25th Feb (Thursday) Dylan and I are off to Julep in town. We’ll be playing two normal sets, then a third set which will be a tribute to some of our favourite artists.
10th March (Wednesday) – not technically a show, but this will mark the South African BBC Entertainment airing of our UK debut on the Graham Norton Show.
13th March (Saturday) – the first of a couple of upcoming duo shows at Boo Radley’s.
23rd March (Tuesday) it’s time to meet up with our good friends K, Ray and the Bird again for a duo show at Die Boer in Durbanville.
27th March (Saturday) – the second Boo Radley’s show.
10th April (Saturday) – the third Boo Radley’s show.
16th April (Saturday) it’s Brothers Streep Storytellers at Fogeys – to raise funds for our upcoming album, the full band is going to strip things down and chat about the stories behind our songs.
And in case you missed our Valentine’s Day podcast, you can download it here. If you sit through the whole episode, you’ll be treated to a version of our new song, Waltz Disney. And don’t think of simply downloading it and skipping to the end – we’ve used special technology to prevent you from doing so. Any attempts to skip through our conversations about making holes in Kilty’s Spearmints to make them seem like Polos, will cause your computer to explode.
Enjoy your week, and hopefully see you this Friday at Octopus Gardens!
