The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #7

[ Posted 23 February 2010 in Newsletters by Simon Streep ]

Despite massive advances in technology over the past few years, I find it strange that we don’t seem to have improved the toaster.  Most appliances are fairly effective in carrying out the tasks they were designed for, but the toaster is a bit hit and miss.  It’s troubling to me that you have to keep an eye on your toast because sometimes it’s just going to burn for no particularly good reason.  I also find it strange that the toaster has settings that no man in their right mind would ever want.  If my toast sometimes burns when it is on 4, why on earth would I ever choose 6?  Maybe I just have a bad toaster.

But enough about toast – here are some dates...

23rd Feb (today) we’re off to Ruby Tuesday in Kenilworth again.  Cocktails are on special before 8, so if you’re a fan of either cocktails, or the notion of saving money, be sure to come join us before 8.  The show itself will only kick off round 8:30 – and if you’re thinking of inviting friends, the Facebook event is here.

25th Feb (this Thursday) Dylan and I are off to Julep in town.  We’ll be playing two normal sets, then a third set which will be a tribute to some of our favourite artists.

10th March (Wednesday) – not technically a show, but this will mark the South African BBC Entertainment airing of our UK debut on the Graham Norton Show.

13th March (Saturday) – the first of a couple of upcoming duo shows at Boo Radley’s.

23rd March (Tuesday) it’s time to meet up with our good friends K, Ray and the Bird again for a duo show at Die Boer in Durbanville.

27th March (Saturday) – the second Boo Radley’s show.

10th April (Saturday) – the third Boo Radley’s show.

16th April (Saturday) it’s Brothers Streep Storytellers at Fogeys – to raise funds for our upcoming album, the full band is going to strip things down and chat about the stories behind our songs.

That’s it for this week – but if you’re currently looking for something to do right now, then perhaps check out Tim P’s video of us rambling on about cricket, or read the story about how I became trapped in the bathroom at our last gig.

Have a great week, and hopefully we’ll see some of you at Ruby Tuesday tonight, or at Julep on Thursday.
