The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #10

[ Posted 23 March 2010 in Newsletters by Simon Streep ]

We don’t really have any good news to deliver in this week’s newsletter.  I think we peaked too soon last week.  News of our trip to the UK was too high on the good newsometer.  We’re going to have to have a week of bad news to make up for all the recent goodness... so... let’s begin...

Firstly, despite my TV guide declaring that ‘our’ episode of the Graham Norton Show would be on this week, it seems like scheduling has changed, and Season Six of the Graham Norton Show actually won’t even be starting this month.  Special thanks to Bianca Coleman who wrote an awesome write-up for it in Friday’s Cape Times, and great apologies to her because now we’ve indirectly made her look bad.  Bianca, if you’re reading this, I make a very good mug of hot chocolate.  Fine, it won’t allow you to regain any journalistic integrity you might have lost because of us, but at least it will taste nice.

Secondly, both our Boo Radleys shows have been cancelled, so if you were planning to go there on those dates, we unfortunately won’t be joining you.  But – we do recommend still going, because it’s a great venue, with great food, so if you’ve yet to check out Boo Radleys, be sure to put that on your agenda.

And then gigs...

Tonight we’ll be joining our friends K, Ray and the Bird at Die Boer in Durbanville.  Apparently they’ll be doing some new songs, so we’ll succumb to peer- pressure and do a new song we wrote about trampolining.  If you’re keen for more details, and to invite friends, the Facebook event is here.

16th April – this is our next big gig, and it’ll be a fundraiser for our upcoming album.  It’s at Fogeys in Muizenburg, and we’re really keen to pack the place out, so if you’d like to help, please get the word out there and invite people – the Facebook event is here.

A lot of bands have ‘street teams’ which help the band with marketing and things like that.  We’re a bit too lazy to organise ‘street teams’, or rather ‘Streep teams’, but if you’re ever keen to help us in any way, we’re always looking for help.  We’re still currently trying to find a venue to record our album, we’re still looking for accommodation in the UK, and now we’re searching for production companies who might be interested in two sitcoms we’ve created – if you can help in any way, please visit our contact page!

Hope you all have a great week, and hopefully we’ll see some of you tonight at Die Boer.

I've got some samoosas left over from some party my parents threw. Will they help?..

Yes. Yes they will. Please drop them off at my house tomorrow. Oh, and if you have some toothpicks left over too, that would be great.
