The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #11

[ Posted 28 April 2010 in Newsletters by Simon Streep ]

It’s been about a month since our last update, so we’ve probably got a lot to catch you up with.  But first... hello, how are you?  Hows work going?  Still having troubles with the boss?  Haha – tell me about it!  And the family?  Well, I’m glad to hear there has been a silver lining.  You want to know how things are going with the Brothers Streep?  Sure thing, I’ll tell you...

We’ve been quiet recently because we’ve been focusing a lot of attention on getting the last bit of preparation done for our new album.  (The picture on your left is from our string arranging session with our friend Gabbi today).  We begin recording on Friday, and with any luck, if we get the time, we’ll keep a studio diary on the blog and keep you updated on our Twitter feed.

Rumour has it that this will be a SAMA award winning album which will take the world by storm... or, at the very least, moderately impress my gran.  We’re recording with the legendary Matt Alison at Dreamspace studios in town – so if you’re in the area, be sure to keep the noise down – we’re trying to record an album here.

On the 24th May we’ll be playing at the Barleycorn in their new venue (Villager FC - 11 Lansdowne Rd Claremont).  Due to working on our album, this might end up being our only gig in May – so don’t miss it!

In other news, our tickets are booked for our UK tour, and we got our VISAs last week, so we’ll be coming to London and Scotland whether you like it or not.  We’re busy in the process of finalising dates for our shows, so if you live in London and want us to play at a venue near you, then please contact us and we’ll see what we can do.  (The last bit of that sentence was not meant to rhyme, I apologise if the accidental use of verse offended you.)  We’ll also be looking for places to stay, so if you have suggestions, please let us know.

Lastly, I figure I should mention posts you might have missed on the blog:

If you’re interested in sitting in on conversations with Dyl and I for no particularly good reason, our latest podcast series will let you be a fly on the wall as we discuss all sorts of things, from current affairs to Anna Paquin – click here to find out more.

Dyl and I are going to see Muse whilst we’re in London, and I think this inspired him to record a very moving tribute to one of his favourite bands of all time.  Click here to watch Dyl Streep's Air-Tribute To Muse.

Then finally, in my limited spare time, I wrote a thesis on Nigroids, and introduced the world to The Fun Pope.

And now you’re up to date!  Enjoy the rest of your week.  Bye.  Bye.  No, no, you hang up...
