The New Adventures of The Brothers Streep #12

[ Posted 19 May 2010 in Newsletters by Simon Streep ]

Things are still very busy here in Streepville – which is sort of ironic, because according to the Internet, Streepville is a coal mining ghost town, so I don’t see it being very busy there at all.  Anyways, we’ve hardly had enough time to record our weekly podcasts or even brush our teeth, but before you think we’ve fallen off the planet, I’ll quickly update you with some upcoming Streep gigs...

This Monday (24th May) we’re off to the Barleycorn, now in a new venue - Villager FC (11 Lansdowne Road, Claremont).  It starts at 8pm, costs R20, and we’ll be playing with our new friends Tempest’s September - we haven’t heard them play yet, but they’re awesome people that we’ve met at various gigs around Cape Town, so we’re looking forward to it.

Drum roll please... on the 19th June – exactly a month’s time – it’s our album launch!  Unless something goes incredibly wrong – and yes, there’s always a small chance the Volcanic Ash will destroy our album - this will hopefully be the day we launch our new album at the Nassau Theatre.  Further details will follow soon soon soon, and if you’ve missed seeing some behind the scenes of the making of the album, click here.

And lastly, on the 3rd July, we’re joining the Lancaster Band for Farmhouse Rocks at the Cape Farmhouse.  Lancaster Band will provide the rocking, and we’ll provide the farmhouse –because that’s the same name as a breakfast.

We were fortunate enough to succeed in making it though the PANSA Auditions, so keep watching our gig section on our site for some upcoming FIFA/PANSA related shows.

And now you’re sort of up to date.  Enjoy the rest of the day - I'm off to shout at Dylan from across a mic...

Fun fact: the new venue for Barleycorn is the same place that our wonderful album cellist plays/played touch rugby.

Is that the Brothers Streep "metal" song you're recording in that photo up there?
