Be on the podcast, be on the album
[ Posted 4 June 2010 in Podcast by Simon Streep ]
So we decided that our upcoming album would have loads of extra features – from director’s commentary to additional songs, chord books and behind the scenes videos – it’s packed with extra goodness. And – one of the extra features will be including our latest podcast series, Dr Streep Medicine Brothers.
We’ll be recording our last episode of this podcast series on Sunday, so if you’d like to actually get a mention on our album, you can submit something for our podcast, and sneak your way into our extra features. We know this isn’t a very big deal, but from our side, we’d just like to be able to thank our faithful listeners in some way, and making sure they get a little shout out on the album seemed like a good way to do it.
So, contact us or comment on this blog, and we’ll be sure to include you. You can send in anything and we’ll read it, or you can contribute to one of the podcast sections. If you’re not familiar with the podcast, click here and get listening...

4 June 2010Do I even have a shot? Look at the rampant nepotism above me! A distant (?) relative of the Streeps and friends vying for a mention.
For some time now, I have had nowhere to vocalize because of the no car thing (say, driving to a rehearsal studio where I could rent space because I can't do anything musical in my apartment. Forbidden) so I've taken to singing a bit either when I'm hiking on Sunset Cliffs and go out on the rocks away from people or at bus stops in the morning and afternoon, going to and from work. I remembered one of my vocal coaches telling me that singing sotto voce with the same control, is just as effective as singing full voice so that's what I do. I can even do it with someone standing mere feet away from me and they can't hear me at all. But I think my breath control has suffered a bit which is very frustrating (the lack of regular performing for several years). Song of moment, is Younger than Springtime from South Pacific which Mandy Patinkin does a killer version of on YouTube.
