Only Bath For You
[ Posted 14 July 2010 in Video by Simon Streep ]
A while back I realised that I only tended to bath or shower if I was going to be seeing my girlfriend that day. We broke up ages ago, and now I haven’t actually bathed or showered for a good two years.
Okay, that’s not true - I still maintain acceptable hygiene levels if I am going to be seeing someone who I’m interested in. So if you ever invite me round to your house and I’m looking particularly well kempt, be afraid.
I think most men are like this though. In general, when they find themselves in a relationship they tend to neaten themselves up. Guys who have never been particularly worried about their appearance start buying deodorant, getting haircuts, and even paying attention to the length of their nose hair. Some actually vow to start exercising, which normally ends up being an empty promise, but to be fair, the thought of that exercise probably helped them to sweat out some impurities.
Women are quite the opposite. It’s when they’re in a relationship that they tend to let themselves go a bit. For sure, in the initial week they’ll keep up the facade that their face naturally looks like that when they wake up, but eventually once they’re comfortable that you have been securely ensnared, they’ll stop to bother with make-up, and you’ll discover their ‘around the house’ wardrobe – items of clothing which can only be worn in the privacy of one’s home, because if you wore them outside you’d be marched to a leper colony.
Anyways, inspired by my epiphany about my own bathing habits, Dylan and I wrote a love song called Only Bath For You. It didn’t make the cut for our latest album, Suitable For The Whole Family, but we did include it as a deleted song on the album, and we still enjoy playing it live, so I thought you might be interested in hearing it. Here are two videos of the song – one from 2006 of us performing at the launch of our first album, It Couldn’t Have Been Miss Scarlett, She Was With Us At The Time, and one of a karaoke video we made for it.

16 July 2010I quite like baboon impersonators. Only proper ones that show their bums, though.
I also really like you guys. Rocking the comedy and just from the live gig clip, it looks like you work well together.
Good ideas to you
