Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues

[ Posted 8 May 2012 in Podcast by Simon Streep ]

If you haven’t yet heard of Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues then there’s a huge chance that you don’t have the Internet and the only reason you’re reading this now is because someone printed it out for you because they were testing their printer and had nothing better to print.

The founders Gareth and Nic were recently responsible for the Internet sensation, The Car Guard Song, which featured a rather impressive cameo by a much loved local artist, and Ard Matthews.

They initially shot to cyber fame last year when they released the parody Braaiday, a song which somehow managed to be even more entertaining than Rebecca Black’s Friday.

Even more recently they’ve been releasing equally hilarious pictures of themselves on Facebook, masterfully photoshopped to look like famous South African artists. A comedy group parodying the look of local acts – I wonder how they come up with this stuff?

Teasing aside, we absolutely love these guys, and if you haven’t yet immersed yourself in the world of Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues we strongly suggest you do, because they’re fresh and funny, and they’re also two of the nicest people we know.  Find them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter and watch them on YouTube.

And if that’s not enough for you, they were our guests on last week’s episode of The Brothers Streep Show, which you can listen to right now by clicking here.
