T-shirts

[ Posted 16 May 2012 in Podcast by Dylan Streep ]

I love a good T-shirt. A good T-shirt, to me, goes beyond simply covering the parts of your body for which it was designed to. It goes beyond staying intact after multiple washes. It even goes beyond being able to be used as part of a makeshift rope that you might use to shimmy down the side of a jail wall, only to be spotted by the roving spotlight. And no matter how still you stand in that moment, the guards can still see you. Was Jurassic Park lying to us when Dr. Grant said ‘Don’t move. He can’t see us if we don’t move.” He was talking about a dinosaur though.

I’ve lost my train of thought. Dinosaurs. T-Rex. T-shirts!

I like my T-shirts to say something – if not an actual joke or a statement of some kind, then at the very least they might say about me “I’m a guy who likes Star Wars, and I’m wearing it on my chest.”

Below are some of my favourite T-shirts. The ones that always get picked first after a wash has been done. They are works of art, and will be captioned thusly.

Ah. Simple but effective.

It names itself, really. Stop Following Me!

Slightly more obscure.

This one I like to call Barcode Zebra melting onto person with umbrella.

A classic!

Stormtrooper Mugshot.

Another avante-garde piece.

This time entitled Boy trying to catch butterflies, but butterflies have flown up into the sky and formed a colourful skull shape. Doubt whether the boy can see the image as clearly as we, the onlooker, can. But that is all down to different vantage points.

Then there is this one below. The One. The one T-shirt to rule them all... This T-shirt is directly responsible for Simon and I writing our song Bruce Willis is Dead! (which can be found on our latest album here.)

*SPOILER ALERT* The following T-shirt contains images which, when understood correctly, represent various movie spoilers.

See if you can figure out all the movie spoilers and name the movies in the comments section below this blog...

*ANOTHER SPOILER ALERT* Almost all of the movie spoilers have been named in the comments section already.

I bought all of these T-shirts in Thailand. The land of T-shirts. It's a pity this whole blog wasn't on all the great ties I bought there otherwise that last sentence would've been much funnier!

In the latest episode of The Brothers Streep Show, I claimed to have been to all seven continents, barring one. Will it be true or false? Find out by listening here.

We also interviewed Brendon Shields, a singer-songwriter from Bethlehem, Free State. If you enjoy his music you can find out more on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud.

Thanks,

Dyl Streep.

Hi,
Where can I get the Barcode Zebra t-shirt.
I live in europe so don't worry about too many people having the same shirt.

Thanks

Hi Johnny,

I bought that one in Khaosan road, Bangkok. It was from a nice little man - I forget his name now. But if you ever end up there and find it, be sure to say hi from me!
