The Show Diaries - Barleycorn Music Festival
[ Posted 15 February 2010 in Streep by Tim S. Streep ](thanks to Jess, Mon, and whoever else took photos on my camera!)
The Barleycorn Music Club have supported Streep since our first shows as a full band, and we were privileged to play at their annual music festival today, held on the sports field at St Joseph's College. Huge sound system (which resulted in the police being called later), wide open space, food and drink on sale, and a range of musicians performing all day. Some of the crowd literally looked like they were camping.
The Show Diaries - Felicia Mabuza Suttle Tribute Show
[ Posted 8 February 2010 in Streep by Tim S. Streep ](thanks to Nikki Streep for photos during the set!)
In calling this show 'The Felicia Mabuza Suttle Tribute' show, we caused some confusion - several people thought Felicia, an ex-talk show host, had passed away, and that we were paying tribute to her. This is understandable, as not many people have tribute shows done for them while they are alive. As far as we're aware, Felicia is still very much alive, but couldn't attend the show for various reasons. Mainly because no one invited her. Shame on us all.
The Show Diaries - Bottomup Cafe
[ Posted 30 January 2010 in Streep by Tim S. Streep ](thanks to Tenille for photos during the set!)
Tonight's show was off the map, in two senses.
In the geographical sense, we were off the map (well, our usual travels anyway) playing at the Bottomup youth cafe in Fish Hoek, the beachfront suburb made famous in recent weeks for a fatal shark attack. Before you ask, yes, we did play our song Sharkman, and it went down very well. Especially well, since against all odds there was a girl there who not only had seen the film Sharkman (upon which the song is based), but actually cheered when we mentioned it. Simon very nearly climbed off the stage to hug her.
In the musical sense, we were off the map with some, ahem, different, versions of our songs, and probably the craziest random banter and stage antics we've ever pulled off on stage.
I Can't Get No Sleep
[ Posted 6 October 2009 in Life by Tim S. Streep ]For all the old-skool clubbers, I'm not talking about that anthemic track by Faithless, I'm talking about another kind of insomnia. It's that time of year again when, to my disappointment, the crisp coolness of winter starts to slip away, like the blankets and duvets that are cast off in favor of lighter bed linen.

Even though my taste in films has previously been called into question, today I'm blogging about a deeply, stomach-hurtingly, tear-streamingly, loud-laugh-you-do-when-you-can't-control-it-ingly funny film we went to watch last weekend.
Tim S Streep's Rant: Outlook 2007 feels I'm not giving it enough attention
[ Posted 21 September 2009 in Life by Tim S. Streep ]It occurred to me that I haven't joined in the fun of rant-posting yet, and so I decided to blog the very first irritation that came to mind. I just so happened to be using a computer at the time, so here goes...
What Makes Someone A Stroupie?
[ Posted 13 September 2009 in Streep by Tim S. Streep ]After our show yesterday at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, someone told me that they wanted to become a Streep groupie. This isn't the first time that has happened, and it got me thinking: what exactly IS a groupie?
Incredible News
[ Posted 18 August 2009 in Findings by Tim S. Streep ]6:25pm, Monday night. There I was, standing in Spar Tops - the 'classy' bottle store - picking up a few Hunters Dry for our Streep braai and band practice, when suddenly my phone rang. Trying to answer your phone while holding a pack of lamb chops, your wallet, your bank card, and a six pack of glass bottles involves defying the laws of gravity and limbs per average human somewhat, but I managed to get to it in time.

[ Posted 28 July 2009 in Streep by Tim S. Streep ]I could talk about what a great night the Ellington's gig was. I could talk about a great Magma Chicken Wrap at Kauai in Tygervalley. I could talk about Simon offending a local in the mall when he pointed out that it felt dead, like it was built on a graveyard.
Michael Bay, All The Way
[ Posted 23 July 2009 in Life by Tim S. Streep ]"Who the heck is Michael Bay?" you ask.
And I answer, "He's the director of Transformers 2". He's also something of a target for ridicule and parody as a result of his obsession with destruction on an epic scale and generally blowing up 90% of the movie set in the course of any scene. When people start referring to you as a stunt-coordinator instead of a director, you know you've gotten carried away with the action element of your films.
