T-shirts

[ Posted 2 days 2 hr ago in Podcast by Dylan Streep ]

I love a good T-shirt. A good T-shirt, to me, goes beyond simply covering the parts of your body for which it was designed to. It goes beyond staying intact after multiple washes. It even goes beyond being able to be used as part of a makeshift rope that you might use to shimmy down the side of a jail wall, only to be spotted by the roving spotlight. And no matter how still you stand in that moment, the guards can still see you. Was Jurassic Park lying to us when Dr. Grant said ‘Don’t move. He can’t see us if we don’t move.” He was talking about a dinosaur though.

I’ve lost my train of thought. Dinosaurs. T-Rex. T-shirts!

Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues

[ Posted 8 May 2012 in Podcast by Simon Streep ]

If you haven’t yet heard of Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues then there’s a huge chance that you don’t have the Internet and the only reason you’re reading this now is because someone printed it out for you because they were testing their printer and had nothing better to print.

Social Networking

[ Posted 24 April 2012 in Podcast by Dylan Streep ]

People use social networking for all different purposes these days. Some use it simply for interacting with people; some use it for marketing, while others use it to raise awareness for a cause. (Think Stop Kony. No comment.) Some videos go ‘viral’, others don’t. It is sometimes hard to understand why a video of a kid waving a stick around can have over 25 million views on YouTube, while a clever blend of two classic films can have as little 1, 500. I’ve rounded up.

TygerBurger Unabridged

[ Posted 20 April 2012 in Streep by Simon Streep ]

We recently did an interview for the TygerBurger to promote our show at Theatre@Elkanah this Saturday. (Tickets are selling out fast, so if you’ve still yet to get one, be sure to click here.) Due to space constraints, almost all this interview wasn’t published, but thanks to the Internet’s infinite amount of space, if you’re not too busy wasting that space by looking at LolCats, you can waste that space by reading the whole interview here…

In defence of film

[ Posted 17 April 2012 in Podcast by Simon Streep ]

I’m tired of walking out of a film I really enjoyed only to have my satisfaction undermined by hearing someone mutter, “well… the book was better.” Yes, the book might have been better for you, but when you’ve finished giving yourself that pat on the back for being literate, perhaps you should consider the following…

Shannon Hope

[ Posted 2 April 2012 in Podcast by Dylan Streep ]

We were lucky enough to have the talented singer/song-writer Shannon Hope in the 2oceansvibe Radio studio on Friday to talk all about her music, prior bands she was involved in and just generally how she’s strived to get to the top of her game on her own steam… You can listen to the podcast here.

Always wear pants

[ Posted 20 March 2012 in Podcast by Simon Streep ]

It’s not necessarily the most ground breaking advice. Most people, with perhaps the exception of Donald Duck who isn’t really a person (or real), would generally recognise that whilst pants are technically optional in all situations, the wearing of them is usually preferred. Unless of course that specific moment is a socially accepted occasion where pants would seem out of place – for example, swimming, showering, or at what they call a ‘no pant’s party’, which I would suggest avoiding altogether purely for health and safety reasons, as it’s been scientifically proven that people who aren’t wearing pants are far less likely to help put out spontaneous fires and fight off burglars.

Genre Stories

[ Posted 12 March 2012 in Podcast by Dylan Streep ]

Genre stories are pieces of writing, often short, within a specific genre. For example, crime stories, horror stories, sci-fi stories, etc. I like the sound of these genre stories not because of the genres in which they are written, but because they are often short. I don’t really enjoy reading. I don’t read many books. The books I have read and enjoyed have mostly ended up being made into films, which I’ve genuinely preferred. (That’s not true. I’m just trying to make a point. I read Yes Man by Danny Wallace and loved it. The film made me go ‘eh’.)

malMemes

[ Posted 7 March 2012 in Podcast by Simon Streep ]

Now if you don’t quite know what memes are, then perhaps I should explain. Contrary to popular belief, memes aren’t people who don’t speak and act out what they’re trying to express. Those are mutes. Very different.
